Hi I'm Travis Corpening coming to you from
Carolina Beach Recreation Center, and I'm
going to show you just how to do a teardrop
jump shot. What you want to do first is of
all is, it's really this shot is really effective
if you're in the paint and you're playing
again players a lot taller than you. So you'll
see if you watch the NBA you'll see a lot
of the shorter players in the NBA use this
and execute this shot. What they do is they
want to come in the paint, and as they come
in the paint, as they see it's just like a
regular shot except you shoot it with one
hand, and you do it to the point where the
defensive man never expected you to shoot
it. So you come into the paint, and as you
come into the paint you don't want to directly
look at the basket until the very last minute.
You already have spotted the basket, but you
want to look as though you don't know, you
have know idea what you're about to do. So
you come in, and as you look around you see
the defender in front of you, then you can
start to look toward the basket. Spot the
basket, and as you do as soon as you spot
the basket, you want to throw it up with one
hand. And that's what makes it so effective.
It's unexpected. You want to throw it up wit
one hand, but you to practice it first because
this can be a little difficult in the paint.
You want to throw it up with one hand to where
you drop the ball directly into the basket,
so that the defensive man cannot get it. You
want to throw it up high enough to where the
defensive man can't block it. So there you
have it the teardrop jump shot.
