15 March 2010 Healthy Families is a new and exciting programme available to just twenty families from across Belfast. It will help these families become healthier, be more active, and it is being provided free-of-charge by Belfast City Council. Each family lucky enough to take part will be given their own lifestyle mentor who will provide guidance on diet and nutrition, work on basic healthy cooking skills, and support the family throughout the programme. Families will also have the opportunity to meet and support other participating families in their area through fun, family-based activities. The Healthy Families programme will start in March 2010 and there is no cost for the twenty participating families. Each family will need to commit to attending two weekly sessions for the first thirteen weeks of the Healthy Families programme. For further information on the Healthy Families programme, contact Andrew Steenson, Health and Fitness Officer on 028 9032 0202 ext. 3540 or by email to steensona@belfastcity.gov.uk.
